The unique eco home is currently under planning assessment. The intent and design approach is to achieve Passivhaus certification.

 

To provide a house suited to the size of the plot without developing an overbearing mass, the majority of the footprint has been designed as single storey. This will aid characteristics of openness on the site and best integrate it with the landscape.

 

At the centre of the single storey aspect is a two storey modern block form which will stand as a contemporory addition within the site. An earth covered bank is to encompass the north elevation with openings formed to allow access into the central two storey hub and provide natural light. The single storey aspect will have a low mono pitched green roof, which from eye level when stood at ground level, will give the impression of the building subtly and organically growing out of the landscape.

 

This will also provide thermal mass to better insulate the structure and provide areas for planting to increase biodiversity.
