RIDGMONT

The existing loft rooms were previously accessed by a steep, enclosed staircase and remained largely uninhabitable. The design intent was to create a more generous and cohesive connection between the upper floors, reconfiguring the first floor to introduce a new gallery landing and open staircase, inspired by the grandeur and spatial character of the original entrance hall and principal stair.

The new arrangement improves the  light, openenss and circulation through the the house, creating a stronger relationship between all three floors.

Alongside the reconfigured stair, a new ensuite was added at first-floor level, while the loft was transformed to accommodate two bedrooms, a shared bathroom, and an open snug. The overall approach sought to bring clarity, openness, and a greater sense of continuity through the house.
